Our Mission Team

The Mission Team at Glen Cary serves the congregation by identifying opportunities to share the gospel message and good news of Jesus Christ everywhere. The team members select projects that emphasize evangelism. The projects are next door and around the globe. The Mission Fund envelopes in the offering packets provide financial support for Mission projects. We thank the members of Glen Cary the support of the Mission Team projects. Where we help:

ELCA

The ELCA is one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with more than four million members in nearly 10,000 congregations across the 50 United States. The ELCA provides disaster relief and fights world hunger, health issues and other relief.

Global Health Ministries

“Helping The Hands That Heal” Global Health Ministries (GHM) ships donated medical supplies to Lutheran hospitals in developing countries and to others in need. GHM has a warehouse in Fridley where volunteers sort, verify, and package supplies and equipment for shipment.

Lutheran World Relief

Lutheran World Relief (LWR) is a non-profit organization that works with local partners to provide lasting solutions to poverty, injustice and human suffering. Each year, the Glen Cary Quilters have provided nearly 100 quilts for delivery to the LWR warehouse in St. Paul Park.

Lutheran Church in Malawi

With the generous support of the Glen Cary congregation, we have supported the building of two churches, a parish house and a bakery, dug a community well, and supplied sewing machines and materials, bicycles, motorcycles and other needs for the African nation of Malawi.

Missionary Support: Over the years Glen Cary has supported several missionaries serving Lutheran churches in various countries. The missionaries we now support are Mary Beth and Bayo Oyebade, who serve in Nigeria.

Missionary Greetings: Greeting cards are prepared for congregation members to sign on mission Sundays during the year. The cards are sent to missionaries of the ELCA, who are assigned to various mission sites around the world, to provide encouragement, support, and gratitude for the outreach and evangelism these missionaries provide.

Little Dresses for Africa: Glen Cary Lutheran and Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in East Bethel continue to jointly host sewing events for members and friends of both congregations. Dresses are created from donated pillowcases and fabric to meet needs of vulnerable girls. The dresses are sewn, then sent and distributed through orphanages, schools, and churches
in third world countries across the globe.
